“I’d smoked for years and thought I was just ‘a smoker’.  After hypnotherapy with Gary, the switch flipped.  No drama, no white-knuckling it.  I’ve not touched a cigarette since.  Straightforward and effective.””

Simon, Hants

Does this feel familiar?

  • You have insight into your patterns, but insight alone has not created change

  • You have tried dieting, cutting down, managing stress, or “thinking positively”, but the results have not lasted

  • You notice your body reacting before your rational mind can intervene
  • You feel frustrated that something deeper seems to be driving anxiety, habits, or physical symptoms

Many of these challenges are maintained by deeply learned nervous system responses.  With hypnotherapy, we can update those patterns safely, making change more sustainable.

“I’d lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember.  Constant overthinking, always on edge.  Gary helped me calm it down in a way that finally made sense. The noise in my head quietened and I feel in control again.”

Sue, Dorset

Who I Work With

II work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, habits, emotional eating, IBS, pain-related stress responses, sleep difficulties, or confidence challenges.

Often, these individuals know what they would like to change. What feels difficult is shifting the automatic responses that keep those patterns in place.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care, and I will always recommend appropriate referral where needed.

What To Expect

Initial Consultation

We begin with a calm, confidential conversation to explore what you would like to change and what feels most important to you.

This is an opportunity to ask questions, clarify goals, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit. There is no pressure to commit.

Assessment and Personalised Plan

If you choose to move forward, we take time to understand the patterns underlying your difficulty. This may include exploring triggers, past learning, stress responses, and current behaviours.

Each programme is personalised. Sessions are structured and focused, while remaining flexible to your pace and comfort.

The Hypnotherapy Process

Hypnotherapy is a relaxed but fully aware state. You remain in control at all times.

Sessions are collaborative. We work gently with the unconscious patterns and nervous system responses that maintain anxiety, habits, physical symptoms, or confidence blocks.

There is no pressure to relive distressing experiences or force anything to happen. Change occurs by helping your system feel safe enough to update long-standing responses.

Between Sessions

You may notice subtle shifts in how you think, feel, or respond. Many clients describe feeling calmer, clearer, or less reactive.

Where appropriate, simple reinforcement techniques may be suggested to support integration between sessions.

Pace and Duration

The number of sessions varies depending on the issue and your goals. Some focused habit changes may require fewer sessions, while longer-standing patterns may benefit from a short structured programme.

We review progress regularly to ensure the work remains aligned with your objectives.

Next Steps...

If you are curious about whether hypnotherapy with me feels right, the next step is simply to get in touch.

There is no pressure to commit.  An initial conversation gives you space to ask questions, talk things through, and decide what feels appropriate for you.

How I work

Hypnotherapy works with the mind, not against it

Hi, I’m Gary Holland and I specialise in helping people update the unconscious patterns that shape how they think, feel, and respond.

Whether the issue presents as anxiety, emotional eating, IBS, pain, sleep disturbance, confidence blocks, or unwanted habits, many challenges are maintained by deeply learned nervous system responses.

These responses are protective patterns that were learned at some point in your life. Even when they no longer serve you, they can continue operating automatically in the background – it’s called “Positive Intention”.

My role is to help your system update those responses safely.

A calm, structured approach

Sessions are structured, personalised, and evidence-informed. We begin by identifying the triggers, emotional loops, and behavioural patterns maintaining the difficulty.

Through guided hypnotherapy, your nervous system enters a relaxed but fully aware state. In this state, the mind becomes more receptive to updating long-standing responses.

You remain in control throughout. There is no loss of awareness, and no pressure to relive distressing experiences.

Change occurs by working with your system.  Willpower works at the conscious level, but long-term change happens at the unconscious level – which is where we do our work.

  • When anxiety reduces at its source, our bodys calm down.
  • When stress responses settle, IBS and pain often become less reactive.
  • When emotional regulation improves, habits such as overeating or smoking lose their grip.
  • When our internal safety increases, so does our confidence.

Although the surface symptoms may differ, the underlying process is often similar. That is the focus of our work.

Safety and professional standards

Safety, consent, and trust are central to the way I practise. My qualifications include DCH and DHP clinical hypnotherapy training, and my approach is grounded in current understanding of how the brain and nervous system learn and adapt.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. Where appropriate, I will always recommend working alongside your GP or relevant healthcare professional.
